ZERO ALLOCATION FOR MDAs NON-PARTICIPATION IN BUDGET DEFENCE – HON. UDUAK ODUDOH

The House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation of the seventh Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudoh has cautioned MDAs who fail to follow procedure and stick to their respective allotted schedule for 2021 budgetary defence, to live-up to expectation or risk having a zero allocation for 2021 fiscal year.

The Chairman of Finance and Appropriation stated this while fielding questions from our reporter on why the schedule defence did not take place today.

Adding that the step is to facilitate the defence exercise as these committees play oversight functions to these MDAs and need to address several concerns on the respective budgets before it appear before that of Finance and Appropriation Committee.

The Chairman of Finance and Appropriation said it is pertinent to say that any MDAs who do not appear before the Finance and Appropriation Committee for its defence will attract zero allocation for their Ministries or Agencies in year 2021.

He also noted that some MDAs have tendered genuine reasons for absence and they will be rescheduled to defend their budgets but it will not exceed the estimated date to end the exercise.

According to the schedule, the MDAs which were to appear on Monday, 16th November, 2020 include; Ministry of Trade and Investment; Akwa Ibom State Sports Council; Fiscal Responsibility Board; Ministry of Youths and Sports; Law Reform Commission; Liaison office Abuja; Liaison office Lagos; Ministry of Science and Technology; and Local Government Service Commission.
