The Acting Chairperson of Mkpat Enin LGA, Lady Mercy Bassey has felicitated with the State on her 35th Anniversary and also commended Gov Udom Emmanuel on his sterling leadership qualities which have culminated to the peace enjoyed in the State.

She gave the goodwill recently during a media chat with pressmen in Uyo.

According to her, “I join in celebrating the State. I commend the Governor for the laudable projects achieved in his tenure. I appreciate the Governor for engaging indigenous contractors which have showcased best hands we have in the engineering sector. This will also encourage our children in the engineering field to do their best as their skills will be needed in future.”

The Chairperson seized the opportunity to reel out few of her achievements in the Council, noting that she runs a consultative and inclusive administration.

“During these last seven months as an Acting Chairperson, Premiere Junction had been redesigned and renovated. There has been total renovation within the Council Secretariat which has boosted the working morale of staff. This include; the construction of the perimeter fence, painting, the Construction of Traditional Rulers Council which caused a relocation of meeting point of Royal Fathers from the old cafeteria.”

She went further to say that the ‘Rt. Hon Ekong Sampson’s Hall’ of about 3,000 capacity which was dilapidated has been given a total facelift. Also, the open offices, Director of Administration office and DSS office, have all been renovated.

Lady Bassey added that as an Acting Chairperson, she repaired the Generating set in the Council, revamp the borehole and supplied light to all the units within the Council.

Divulging the conferment of the Local Government Merit Award (LOGMA) on her which is taking place on September 22, 2022, Lady Mercy Bassey said it is not without taking cognizant of her strides in the educational and infrastructural aspect of her administration. Mercy Bassey said the staff of the Council and few of her friends voted her in the contest without her knowledge until recently when she was informed about it by the organisers.
She said the award will not only be for her Local Government Area but the pride of the entire State.

The Chairperson said all the achievements are in order of her Boss’ (Hon Aniekpon Ekpo) vision for the Council and not in anyway to spite him as speculated by some mischievous elements. She said she will hold sway efficiently until whenever her Boss will be reinstated in office.
