The immediate past Chairman of the Assembly Service Commission, Arch. Bishop Andrew Uwanta has handed over responsibilities of steering the ship of the Commission to his successor, Barr. Goddy Umoh.

The Past Chairman assured his successor of a smooth four-year tenure as he embraces the administrative procedure and work closely with the staff.

The handing over ceremony was performed in the office of the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly complex, Monday.

In his handing over note, Bishop Uwanta acknowledged the good working condition which existed during his tenure between the Commission and the Seventh Assembly headed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey.

He also thanked the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for choosing men of proven integrity to man the affairs of the Commission for the next four years.

Also, the outgone Chairman in his orientation, advised his incumbent to go through the reviewed Handbook of the Commission for guidance on the administrative procedure of the Assembly Service Commission. He also said the Account Department will brief him further of the budgetary provision of the Commission.

The immediate past Chairman urged his successor to maintain cordial relationship with members of Staff and the Lawmakers of the Assembly.

In his response, Barr. Goddy Umoh thanked the Executive Governor for choosing him and his team to run the affairs of the Commission for the next four years.

He promised to work closely with House Members and Staff of the Assembly to ensure smooth adminstration and value added to service.

In a later event, while addressing staff of the Commission, the incumbent Chairman, Barr. Goddy Umoh solicited for utmost cooperation and support from staff. He promised to tender the requests of the Staff to the appropriate authorities.

In his speech, the Secretary of the Commission, Elder Sylvanus Akpan welcomed the new Chairman to the Commission and promised that members of Staff will give him the needed support to pilot the affairs of the Commission.

He however presented the burdens of the Commission to him which include; accommodation, training/ retraining of staff and utility vehicles.

Recently, the State Executive Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel Sworn-in Chairmen and Members of Boards and Commission in the State including Assembly Service Commission which has; Barr. Goddy Umoh as Chairman from Ikono LGA; Rt. Hon. Friday Iwok-member from Abak LGA; Dr. Mrs. Roberta Edem, member, from Uyo LGA; Etiene Bob, member from ONNA; and Barr. Godwin Awa, member, from Itu LGA.

It could be recalled, that Arch. Bishop Andrew Uwanta resumed office in October 14, 2016 and would have run full cycle on October, 2020.
