The Acting Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Council, Hon. Idorenyin Inyang has assumed office with a promise to the people of the area that he is not coming to truncate what was on ground but to consolidate on the mandate that was given to him and his former boss, Miss Emem Ibanga who was recently suspended from office by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

The chairman stated this while addressing the mammoth jubilant crowd of youth, women supporters and council staff who came out in large number to welcome him as he formerly takes over office in the acting capacity as chairman of Nsit Atai.

He called on the people of the area to remain calm, law abiding, shun all forms of criminality which his administration have zero tolerance and support his administration as no development can be achieved in an atmosphere of violence and rancor.

Hon. Inyang emphatically said that his coming in as acting chairman should not cause any fear or panic as the local government is set to witness an effective administration, accountability and political inclusion, while politics of bitterness, blackmail and vindictive tendencies will not have any place under his administration.

The chairman assured the people that he will immediately take steps that will restore people’s hope and confidence in the ability of government to serve them better, and will make the welfare of Nsit Atai people and his staff a priority throughout his stay as council chairman.

Before heading to the council Secretariat, the chairman had a brief stop over at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai, Edidem Peter Okon Effiong and met with other traditional rulers including group heads of Afaha and Ibedu in company with the council supervisors and councillors where the chairman was offered a royal blessing.

At the palace, the Paramount Ruler told the chairman that they have been informed that some miscreants has sacrilegiously plant traditional injunction in the council Secretariat without the consent of the traditional rulers, and advised that whoever that commit such ignoble act should report his or herself within 3 days without which will face the consequence.

Also speaking, the Group Head of Afaha, Chief Mfon Sunday Essien expressed bitterness over the abuse of the traditional injunction, and assured the chairman that they will not sleep until the perpetrators of the sacrilegiously act are found and punish.

He said that Afaha people welcome with joy and open heart, the acting chairman of Nsit Atai on his emergence and pledge their unalloyed loyalty and support to his leadership. He called on the people especially Afaha, where the suspended chairman came from to support the acting chairman who has not come for war but to build peace and unity of Nsit Atai.

The Afaha group head commended the acting chairman for his wisdom, maturity and sense of discipline while serving as vice chairman of the council, and prayed God to protect and sustain him in his quest to reposition and move Nsit Atai forward.

Thereafter, the traditional rulers led by the Paramount ruler accompanied the chairman to the council where they traditionally removed the fake injunction with a curse on the perpetrators.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, the Nsit Atai youth council chairman, Prince Eyo Okon said the youths of the local government are solidly behind the chairman, and will give him all the needed support to enable him succeed in the remaining months left to the end of their tenure. He called on youths to shun crime and violence, and remain law abiding.

Also speaking, the councillors through the Deputy Leader of the legislature, Hon Edo John Nyong and supervisors through their Dean, Hon. Barry James described the emergence of Hon. Inyang as the beginning of a new dawn in Nsit Atai local government, and pledge their unflinching loyalty to his administration.

The acting chairman was later conducted around offices and council premises, and also inspect some abandoned projects within the local government with a promise to immediately initiate a process to complete some of them for Nsit Atai people.
