ESSIEN UDIM RERUN – ISOBARA, BROTHER REVEAL MAGIC WAND
The Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Council, Hon. Raphael Isobara and the retired Accountant General of the State, Sir Udo Isobara said the victory of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded rerun election in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is as a result of untiring mobilization of electorates by PDP.
The Isobaras made the Statement during the rerun election at Ikot Udom, Mkpatak – Ward 4, Unit 005 while they casted their votes, Saturday.
According to the Council Chairman, Hon. Raphael Isobara, “PDP has always been up with activities as a build up to the rerun election. PDP as a party never relented effort in meeting security chiefs and relevant bodies to ensure there is conducive environment for a free and fair elections.”
He appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the electoral body for ensuring everything was in place for a smooth exercise. The Chairman commended INEC for the remarkable improvement in the processes of the rerun exercise.
The retired Accountant General of the State, Sir Udo Isobara added that to the build up of the rerun election, the Party at the Local Government level organised inter- village Football Competitions and Free Medical Care Services during the yuletide which facilitated mobilization of voters towards the upcoming rerun.
He added that there is no how All Progressives Congress (APC) could win in Akwa Ibom State when PDP is busy mobilising the people and the opposition (APC) go to rest.
Voters went out enmasse as early as 8:00am to cast their votes in Village Hall Ikot Ubah Mkpatak, Ekpenyong Atai Ward 2, Unit 008; Village Hall Ikot Esifon, Ekpenyong Ward II, Unit 11; Ekpenyong Ikot Udo Inyang, Unit 009 all in Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
The PDP State Vice Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sunyiekekere Inokon was caught casting his vote. In interaction, the PDP Vice Chairman said he was happy by the electorate enlightenment to the electoral process. He also appreciated the electorates for coming out in Afaha, Unit 014 being the last in the series of Unit in the Ward.
According to him, “I am optimistic devoid of bias that PDP will win in the outcome of the rerun election as it is the only party which worked to mobilize people.”
However, in the result released by INEC of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Federal and State Constituency Rerun Elections had; SENATE
APC (Godswill Akpabio): 83,820.
PDP (Chris Ekpenyong): 134,717.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
APC (Emmanuel Akpan): 22,757.
PDP (Nsikak Ekong): 45,366.
HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
APC (Nse Ntuen): 7,108.
PDP (Esse Umoh): 18,999.
It could be recalled that APC in their Press Release on the Eve of the election declared their stance of withdrawal from the elections.
