COVID 19: AKHA SPEAKER COMMENDS STATE GOVERNMENT FOR FUMIGATING ASSEMBLY COMPLEX
Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has commended the fumigation exercise at the Assembly Complex and other parts of the State as proactive steps by State Government to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Rt. Hon. Bassey, who gave the commendation in Uyo on Thursday, said State Government’s collaboration with Dubai Construction Company Nigeria Ltd to fumigate the State has further strengthen its effort to contend the spread of the pandemic.
He urged Akwa Ibom people to continue to adhere to all the preventive measures including regular washing of hands, social distancing and use of hand sanitizers.
The Speaker also assured the people of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s commitment to the progress of Akwa Ibom and the well-being of it’s people.
Speaking, the Managing Director of Dubai Construction Company, Prince Allaf Mohammad, said the fumigation exercise is to assist the State Government contend with the virus.
He said Airport, Markets, Motor Parks and other crowdy places in the state have been sprayed with the anti-virus chemical which is 65% chlorine and can last for 30 days without rain.
Prince Mohammad added that the Chemical is 95% potent to kill the virus but only last for 30 days without rain.
“If rain falls, it will wash away the Chemical and can not be effective and the place needs to be resprayed with the Chemical. So, we pray rain should not fall for 30 days so the anti-virus chemical can still be effective.”
“We advised that offices sprayed with the Chemical should not be mopped for 30 days so it can still be effective within this period.”
Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of company, Mr. Paul Bassey Effiong, said the fumigation exercise by the Company ends today as they will proceed from Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly complex to Government House.
