AKSG PARDONS CHRIST EMBASSY PASTOR OVER COVID-19 VIOLATION
What seemed to be a face-off between the Akwa Ibom State Covid-19 monitoring committee and Christ Embassy Church may have been laid to rest by the State Government granting pardon to the defaulting party.
This was contained in a press release by the State’s Ministry of Information signed by the Commissioner, Mr. Charles Udo, today.
The release reads, “Following entreaties from well meaning individuals and groups, the Akwa Ibom State Government has dropped charges against Pastor Emmanuel Effiong of Christ Embassy Church, Nung Akpa Ime branch, off Nsikak Eduok Avenue, Uyo.
“The church and the pastor have since tendered an unreserved apology to the state government while promising to adhere to the Akwa Ibom State Government/Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)/World Health Organisation ( WHO)/Christian Association( CAN) Guidelines and Protocols adopted to prevent community spreading of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic in Akwa Ibom State.
“All churches are reminded of the need to ensure strict adherence to all stipulated guidelines.”
It could be recalled that last Sunday when the Covid-19 monitoring team visited Christ Embassy Church in Uyo, there was a clash between the Church and the team who discovered the worshippers violated the use of nose/mouth-mask which is part of the guidelines to be met by churches before they can congregate for worship sessions.
