AKHA MEMBERS PROPOSE AKWA IBOM CULTURAL HERITAGE BILL

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has proposed a bill to conserve the cultural heritage of the State.

The bill which is sponsored by Hon. (Barr) Otobong Bob of Nsit Ubium State Constituency and 12 others passed through the first reading today.

Titled, “A Law to provide for the Preservation, Protection and Restoration of Historical Properties and Cultural Heritage Sites in Akwa Ibom State and for Connected Purposes,” was referred to Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges for onward study and legislative process.

Co-Sponsors of the bill include; Rt. Hon. (Sir) Udo Keirian Akpan; Rt. Hon. (Barr) Aniefiok Dennis; Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem; Rt. Hon. (Elder) Mark Esset; Rt. Hon. (Otuekong) Nse Essien; Hon. (Barr) Esse G. Umoh; Hon. Effiong Johnson.

Others are; Hon. Godwin Ekpo; Hon. Dr. (Mrs) Charity Ido; Hon. Asuquo Nana Udo; Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudoh and Rt. Hon. Effiong Bassey.

Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to reconvene on May 28, 2020 by 10:00am.
