The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey has charged beneficiaries of Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS) to utilize effectively the various sums dolled out as encouragement to their respective businesses.

This charge was given by the Speaker during a presentation ceremony organized by him for the beneficiaries today.

According to the Speaker, “Due to the situation in the country, we can not have a full ceremony but I will urge the beneficiaries both in the first, second and third series to utilize effectively any amount given to them to add value to their businesses.”

The Speaker who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Charles Iwatt congratulated the beneficiaries for meeting criteria and scaled through the process of selection successfully.

He also noted that the program is in tandem with the State Government policy to encourage entrepreneurial development and economic expansion through trade and Agricultural activities.

In his address, the Manager of the program who also is the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Media and Communication, Mr. Darlington Udobong said it was an objective process where the beneficiaries were selected throughout the three series.

He added that the March and April batches are merged for the presentation which is due to the ravaging Covid 19 pandemic which paused organisational plans and engagements.

The three months old programme according to the Manager is the brain child of the Speaker which purpose is to discover and empower young entrepreneurs in the State. He said it is the vision of the program to lay lasting legacies of encouraging entrepreneurs to grow as is the case of Singapore where multinationals empower young entrepreneurs to grow.

The cheques were given out to the March and April batches respectively.

For March Edition, the beneficiaries included; Mmenim Udobong Wilson -N250,000; Utibe Effiong Okon – N150,000; and Utibe Akwa – N100,000.

The April batch has; Blessing Monday Akpan – N250,000; Aniedi; Edem Asuquo – N150,000; and Dorcas Friday Ekungbe – N100,000.

Unbehalf of other beneficiaries, Blessing Monday Akpan expressed appreciation to the Speaker and the organisers for choosing to employ unbiased process to select Akwa Ibom young entrepreneurs and encourage them in their various trades.

The beneficiaries promised to make judicious use of the packages given to them to boost their businesses.
