Peace Point Development Foundation (PPDF) has expressed readiness to partner with the media and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to spread environmental knowledge as it concerns Climate Change and Climate Justice to rural Communities across the State.

This was contained in the address of the Coordinator of PPDF, Mr. Umo Isua-Ikoh during the one day training of Journalists and CSOs in Uyo, Friday.

According to him, “training and retraining of Journalists and CSOs as partners in the environmental project is a veritable tool which will add up to the spread of environmental knowledge and sensitization of the public on need to adopt new ways of engagements so as to protect the environment.

“Humanity has been the drive of our activities since we ventured into environmental sector in 2005.”

He went further to reel off few of their community projects which cover Opukalama Community in Ikot Abasi LGA; Okoroutib in Ibeno LGA and other communities which highlighted conservative means of cooking to reduce deforestation by their invention of ‘Fuel Wood Efficient Cook Stove.’

He said since the new method of cooking was introduced to these communities, they had long embraced the change which has helped reduce carbon emission (pollution) in their environment. Mr. Isua-Ikoh promised to spread the invention to other local communities in the State who are in terrible pollution condition due to activities of Oil operators and other human factors.
