ATANANG DEDICATES UDUNG UKO PDP CHAIRMANSHIP FLAG TO GOD
As the campaign train of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stopped over in Udung Uko LGA to officially present flags to candidates of the party, the Chairmanship candidate, Prince Atanang Asuquo Osung said he dedicates it to God.
He made the respond today after the official presentation of flags to him, his Vice, Mrs Mfonobong Etim Umoh and Councillors who will make up the next LG cabinet.
Prince Osung assured the people of God’s/People’s centric leadership when finally elected to take over the leadership of the Local Government Council in the forthcoming elections on Saturday.
He called on the people to give support to the Party by voting candidates of the Party during the elections and to observe all the guiding rules during the process.
Presenting the Flags, the PDP State Chairman, Hon Udo Ekpenyong urged party faithful to go back and mobilize voters in their respective units as their conducts during Saturday elections will serve as a litmus test for 2023 elections.
The State Chairman who was represented by the State Assistant Organising Secretary of PDP, Mr. Enobong Harry advised PDP supporters to adhere to rules and regulations that will be guiding the process on Saturday.
The incumbent Chairman, Rt. Hon. Okon Esin Oku in his speech said he had promised to handover to another from Ward five, though with no one in particular. He promised that on Saturday, the area will deliver PDP candidates as there is no other party in Udung Uko LGA.
In her remarks, the Political Leader of Udung Uko LGA, Hon. (Mrs) Kenim Onofiok appreciated the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and wife, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel for upholding the 35% affirmative position for women in the LG electioneering process.
She maintained that the area is PDP as there is no other party the people is familiar with in Udung Uko.
The incumbent Council Secretary of the area, Hon. Okokon Ekpe said the area will continue to be led by PDP and hoped for a fresh breeze in the area when the incoming Exco commences duties.
An elder of the area, Chief Okon Osung noted that there is need to make provision for transition program as it is necessary or they run into self-destruct.
He advocated for opportunities to be given to younger generation to assume leadership positions across all levels of Government. Also, he encouraged constructive criticism and support to Government policies and programmes.
The Youth Leader, Okon Emmanuel Okon decried of unemployment amongst youth in the area which gives rise to restiveness. He however begged for government to pay attention to the improvement of road network in the area as it is deplorable and has affected the economic activities of the area.
High point of the campaign was the presentation of flags to PDP candidates of the forthcoming LG elections in Udung Uko and the commissioning of PDP secretariat.
